About Compass & Kite

Compass & Kite is a small art-and-gifts studio for people who love books, travel, good design, and things that are a little unexpected.

We started with a coloring book called 40 Moments in New York City. It focused less on famous landmarks and more on the small scenes that make a place feel like itself. That idea — moments over monuments — has stayed with us.

Since then, we’ve wandered into bookshop prints, literary mugs, city-inspired art, funny T-shirts, and a series of samurai dealing with very modern problems.

Compass represents curiosity: places, stories, books, art, and the urge to keep discovering new things. And Kite is play: humor, imagination, and following an idea even when it gets a little ridiculous.

What we make

You’ll find bookish gifts, place-inspired art, and things that simply made us laugh enough to want them in the world.

We’re especially drawn to details: a glowing bookstore window, the color of a city street at dusk, or the expression of a samurai who has just encountered a treadmill for the first time.

Our products are made to order with trusted production partners in the U.S., and we put a lot of care into how each one looks and feels.
